A court in Uttar Pradesh’s Muzaffarnagar district framed charges against Kapil Dev Aggarwal, a minister in the Yogi Adityanath government, in two cases of violation of prohibitory orders and rioting. The court, which hears cases related to MPs and MLAs, has fixed November 23 as the next date of hearing.
The court of Special Judge Gopal Upadhyay framed the charges under sections 147, 188, 427 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code. According to District Public Prosecutor Rajeev Sharma and Additional Public Prosecutor Manoj Thakur, the police had registered two cases of rioting and violation of prohibitory orders against Kapil Dev Agarwal in 2003 and 2017 respectively.
