Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat, who was disqualified just before the finals of the Paris Olympics after being found to be 100 grams overweight, celebrated her birthday on Sunday. During this, Vinesh said that her body is fine, but her mental level is shaken. It is not easy to quit the sport, but what happened to me has caused my emotional breakdown. It is noteworthy that after being out of the Paris Olympics, Vinesh made an emotional post and announced her retirement from wrestling. However, later writing another long post, she expressed her desire to play till the 2032 Olympics.
While talking to news agency ANI, Vinesh Phogat said, “I have come to this village for the first time. Before that I had heard that there is a lot of work for sportspersons in this village, today I saw it too. It feels great to see the love people have for sports. It is not easy for any player to leave sports. The thought is going on in the mind. It is not easy for me either. Due to what has happened to me, I have had an emotional breakdown. My body is fine, but my mental level is completely shaken.”
She further said that the day I sit quietly, I will be able to decide what to do in the future. Right now I don’t know how to receive the love and respect people are giving me. Many times I feel that I wanted a medal, but seeing the love I am getting from people, I feel that there is nothing greater than this.
Let us tell you that Vinesh Phogat was assured of a silver medal in the Paris Olympics, whereas if she had won the final, she would have got the gold medal. But just before that, when she was weighed, she weighed 100 grams more, due to which the Indian wrestler returned to the country without any medal. After this, she also appealed for a silver medal in CAS, but she did not get any success from there either.
Vinesh Phogat has returned to India from Paris recently. After arriving at Delhi airport, Bajrang Punia, Sakshi Malik, MP Deepender Hooda and many others gave Vinesh a grand welcome. After this, Vinesh was also given a warm welcome in many villages. Meanwhile, Vinesh also met former Haryana CM and Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Deepender Hooda, after which speculations started about her contesting the Haryana elections on a Congress ticket. However, no one has officially confirmed about contesting the elections yet.
