Sushant Singh Rajput Case: The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has arrested actress Rhea Chakraborty, her brother Shovik Chakraborty and others in a special court in Mumbai in connection with the drugs case related to the death of Bollywood star Sushant Singh Rajput. Charges have been filed against The court is yet to frame charges against Riya. The next hearing of this case will be on July 12.
Special Public Prosecutor Atul Sarpande said that charges have been framed against all the accused in the chargesheet. Filing this draft chargesheet, he has urged the court to frame charges of drug abuse and purchase and payment of such substances for the deceased actor Rajput on Riya and Shovik.
All the accused including Riya and Shovik appeared in the court
Sarpande said that the court was about to frame charges against all the accused. However, this could not be done as some of the accused have filed discharge applications. He told that the court has said that charges will be framed only after the discharge application is decided. On Wednesday, all the accused including Riya and Shovik appeared in the court. Special Judge VG Raghuvanshi, who heard cases related to the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, fixed July 12 as the date of hearing.
Sushant Singh Rajput was found dead in the house
Significantly, Sushant Singh Rajput was found hanging in his flat in Mumbai on June 14, 2020. The CBI is investigating this matter on the orders of the Supreme Court, but the investigating agency has not reached any conclusion yet. The angle of drugs also came to the fore in the case of Sushant Singh Rajput’s death.
Riya Chakraborty was in jail for a month
Rhea Chakraborty was arrested in this case in September 2020. About a month after his arrest, he was granted bail by the Bombay High Court. Apart from Riya, her brother Shovik Chakraborty and several others have also been alleged as accused in the case of drug abuse, possession and financing. Most of them are out on bail.
