There are reports of resignation of BJP state president Sunil Jakhar in Punjab. Panchayat elections are going to be held in the state on October 15 and before that it is said that BJP will face a big blow. Meanwhile, this has been denied by BJP and such reports have been termed as false. Punjab BJP General Secretary Anil Sarin said that all the reports of his resignation are baseless and wrong. He said that Sunil Jakhar is the state president of Punjab BJP and is doing his work. Propaganda for his resignation has been spread by the opposition parties.
Party sources say that Sunil Jakhar continues on the post. He has been busy in the last few days and was rarely seen on party platforms. Due to this, such discussions were started, but there is nothing like that. Some people say that Sunil Jakhar has expressed his wish to the party leadership that he no longer wants to hold the post of state president. He says that he is not able to work in the state completely free. There are discussions that since the Lok Sabha elections, Sunil Jakhar has been less active in the politics of the state. He was last seen in a meeting held at the BJP office in Chandigarh on September 3. The party’s membership campaign was to begin on this day.
Sunil Jakhar left the Congress, with which he was associated for decades, in May 2022. After this, he was made the state president of BJP in July itself. This was his big opportunity because he was given the post of president in place of the traditional leaders of BJP. However, there was some internal dissatisfaction in BJP regarding this. Some people said that how could such a big responsibility be given to a leader who had been a Congress leader for decades. Apart from this, there has also been talk of bad relations between Sunil Jakhar and Union Minister of State Ravneet Singh Bittu. Sunil Jakhar also does not have a very good relationship with BJP leader Rana Sodhi.
