Nicholas Pooran CPL 2024- The series of West Indies’s dashing wicketkeeper batsman Nicholas Pooran’s bat making a splash in T20 leagues continues. Currently he is playing the Caribbean Premier League 2024. He created havoc in the very first match of the league. Nicholas Pooran is a part of Trinbago Knight Riders in this league. In his very first match against St Kitts Patriots and Nevis, he played a brilliant innings of 97 runs by batting explosively. He missed his century by just three runs, but his innings managed to give Trinbago Knight Riders victory. On the strength of this innings of Pooran, the Trinbago Knight Riders team also managed to make the third highest score in the history of CPL.
After losing the toss and opting to bat first, Trinbago Knight Riders suffered the first blow in the form of Sunil Narine in the fourth over of the innings. Puran did not take much time after coming to the crease and took on one bowler after another.
During his innings of 97 runs, Puran faced 43 balls in which he hit 7 fours and 9 towering sixes.
Apart from Puran, Casey Carty also shone who played an unbeaten innings of 73 runs in 35 balls with the help of 9 fours and 3 towering sixes.
On the strength of these two batsmen, the Trinbago Knight Riders team managed to reach a score of 250 for the loss of 4 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. This is the third highest total in the history of CPL.
Chasing this score, the team of St Kitts Patriots and Nevis also managed to cross the 200 run mark. Recently, it has been seen on many occasions in T20 cricket that despite setting a huge score, the team does not panic.
St Kitts Patriots and Nevis put up a fight against Trinbago Knight Riders, but their team could only score 206 runs at the loss of 8 wickets in 20 overs and Trinbago Knight Riders won the match by 44 runs. Thus, a total of 456 runs were scored in this match.
Nicholas Pooran was awarded the Player of the Match award for his explosive innings.
