New Delhi. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman gave her first TV interview to Newtork18 after presenting the General Budget for 2023-24. In this special conversation with Finance Minister Sitharaman, Editor-in-Chief of Network18 Group, Rahul Joshi not only discussed the nuances of the budget but also questioned those points which are directly related to the general public. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman gave her views on the relief given to the employed class in Budget 2023, new schemes, development of farmers and agriculture sector. The Finance Minister answered all the questions related to the government’s vision regarding new schemes, the challenges of the Corona era, the new tax slabs.

When asked which budget is the most memorable, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said, ‘It is difficult to say. Every budget is memorable and it would be difficult to choose which of the five budgets I presented was the most memorable. In this exclusive interview to News18 India, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman reveals how she relaxes after a long tiring day and works on budgeting every financial year. She said, ‘I listen to music, mainly classical and Carnatic music, it helps me sleep better.’ He further said, ‘We do good work by taking inspiration from our Prime Minister, who has a vision for the country.’

On the challenges of the Corona period, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said that we had to do homework for all the incoming inputs and go through the depth of what it means. On suggestions coming from all quarters on the economy front, he said, “Just because we can choose one way or the other, we must have the understanding to understand what we went for.”

On the challenges after the Corona period, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said, despite all the global uncertainties, we did not want to let go of economic reforms. There was no precedent before me to handle a situation like the Covid pandemic. There were no examples to follow. Post the pandemic, we engaged in dialogue with the stakeholders. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman told News18 India on the questions arising on the investment of SBI and LIC in Adani Group, ‘I would like to remind that the CMD of both SBI and LIC issued detailed statements and assured that they will not be exposed.’ He further said, ‘The Indian banking sector is at a comfortable level today with low NPAs.’
