No-ball due to wicketkeeper’s mistake! Do you know this rule of cricket? Watch video

There are some rules in cricket, which are known only when some incident related to it happens. In cricket, bowlers are most responsible for no-balls, or if the captain has not fielded according to the set rules, then it happens. But there is a rule regarding no-ball, which is also related to the wicketkeeper. Something similar was seen in Vitality T20 Blast 2024, the video of which has gone viral on social media. The Northamptonshire vs Somerset match was played on 5 September, in which Somerset won by 17 runs and their wicketkeeper Lewis McManus has a big hand in this defeat of Northamptonshire. Due to one of his mistakes, Somerset’s Tom Coller Cadmore got a lifeline and also had to face a no-ball. You have hardly seen such a no-ball in cricket before.

When Kolar was playing after scoring 41 runs off 31 balls, he was given a reprieve, which proved to be very costly for Northamptonshire. Kolar was then dismissed after scoring 63 runs off 43 balls. Actually, Saif Jab came to bowl the 14th over for Northampton. He dismissed Tom Banton, who was dismissed after scoring 75 runs off 43 balls. On the fourth ball of the over, there was a strong appeal for stumping against Kolar. After which the third umpire was needed.

When the third umpire saw the replay, when the ball was bowled, wicketkeeper McManus’ gloves were in front of the stumps. According to the rules of cricket, the wicketkeeper’s position should be completely behind the stumps while bowling. The third umpire was checking whether Kollar was out or not, but before that it was seen that McManus’ gloves were in front of the stumps and he declared it a no ball. Due to which Somerset also got a free hit and Kollar hit the next ball for a six. Somerset scored 215 runs for three wickets in 20 overs, in response, Northamptonshire’s team could only score 198 runs for five wickets in 20 overs. This was the quarterfinal match and Northamptonshire is now out of the Vitality T20 Blast, while Somerset will have to face Surrey in the semi-finals.
