Not Babar Azam-Shaheen Afridi, Wasim Akram called these two Indians his favourites; said- maybe the people of my country…

Pakistani legend Wasim Akram has recently revealed the names of his favorite batsman and bowler of modern day cricket and surprisingly, he has not named any Pakistani player during this time. Let us tell you, Babar Azam is currently the number-1 ODI batsman. Shaheen Afridi is Pakistan’s main bowler in all three formats. Wasim Akram has chosen two Indians as his favorite batsman and bowler.

When fast bowling legend Wasim Akram was asked about his favourite fast bowler, he said he might disappoint his countrymen. Akram named Jasprit Bumrah as his favourite and called him the greatest Indian and modern-day bowler who is equally effective in all formats.

Wasim Akram said in an interview to Americacricket TV, “If I have to choose one, people in my country might not like him… My favorite fast bowler is India’s modern-day great Jasprit Bumrah. He is very different, and he impressed me because he is a good bowler in all three formats.”

Wasim Akram was also asked to pick his favourite batsman and he talked about players like Sunil Gavaskar, Allan Border, Martin Crowe, Sachin Tendulkar and Brian Lara and then picked Sir Viv Richards as the best batsman and named Virat Kohli among the modern day greats.

Wasim Akram said, “I have played in the 90s. I have played against all these greats. If you talk about Sunil Gavaskar of India, Martin Crowe of New Zealand or Allan Border of Australia, these are all big names, but one name comes first, the West Indies legend Sir Vivian Richards. I think he was the best batsman ever to grace this beautiful game for me, but then in the 90s I played against the great Sachin Tendulkar, the incredible Brian Lara of the West Indies and the Waugh brothers of Australia.”

He concluded by saying, “As a batsman, Sir Viv Richards is an all-time great, but if I had to pick, there is another Indian batsman I really admire, not only on the field but off the field, for his fitness, routine and mindset – Virat Kohli, who is one of the biggest names in world cricket.”
