Various forms of Goddess are worshiped in the temple throughout the year. Over 100 volunteers worked for several hours with notes of Rs 2,000, Rs 500, Rs 200, Rs 100, Rs 50 and Rs 10 denominations to decorate the temple.
On the occasion of Navratri and Durga Puja in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh, the temples of Mata are decorated in a grand manner. In both the states, in the devotion of Goddess Kanyaka Parameshwari, people give various things like money, gold, silver as an offering, on the occasion of Navratri, the temple is decorated attractively with these money.
Organizers decorated the deity with garlands and bouquets of origami flowers made of currency notes of different denominations and colours. The idol of the goddess in the temple and the walls of the temple were decorated with new notes. Currency notes of different colors have added to the beauty of the temple. This temple is attracting the devotees coming from many places to the temple.
According to Mukkala Dwarakanath, chairman of the Nellore Urban Development Authority (NUDA) and a member of the temple committee, the committee recently completed the restoration work of the temple at a cost of Rs 11 crore. He said, since the repair work took four years and this is the first festival after completion, the committee decided to decorate the deity with notes. The committee members and devotees collected currency notes and took the services of artists for the unique decorations.
Temple decorated with gold, silver and currency notes in Visakhapatnam
On the occasion of Dussehra also in Visakhapatnam, the Goddess is decorated with gold, silver and currency notes in the Kanyaka Parameshwari temple. The temple’s president Chandrashekhar said that ‘the cash, gold and silver used in the decoration is worth Rs 4 crore.’
