If you are having a meeting with your boss on Google Meet, then the hassle of keeping a pen and notepad to note down important points is over. Now AI will do this work too. Yes, soon a new Artificial Intelligence (AI) feature is coming to Google Meet, which will allow the user to receive notes generated by AI after the meeting is over. Google has started rolling out this feature for its Workspace users. This feature named ‘Take Notes for Me’ is designed to write down and summarize important points of the conversation during the meeting. The feature uses the capabilities of Gemini AI for its work.
The advantage of this feature is that you will be able to focus completely on the meeting without worrying about taking notes and AI will note all the important points. After the meeting is over, these notes will be compiled neatly in a Google Docs file and linked to the calendar event, so that everyone in the office can easily access it later. This feature was first announced in September last year and was available only in beta till now. It will be available to select Google Workspace users from today.
Google Meet introduces note-taking AI feature
Google said in its blog that this feature is being rolled out to select Workspace users from August 27. The feature is being rolled out gradually and it may take about 15 days to reach all users. But keep in mind that the ‘Take Notes for Me’ feature is available to those Google Workspace users who have Gemini Enterprise, Gemini Education Premium or AI Meetings and Messaging add-ons.
Once this AI feature is found, users can see it in the Gemini AI icon (shiny pencil) on the top-right corner of the Meet interface. Clicking on the icon will also show a short description of how ‘Take Notes for Me’ works and a button to enable it. Once enabled, it creates a document in the meeting organiser’s Drive.
Amazon will compete with Blinkit and Flipkart, will soon launch Quick Commerce Service
By default, the Gemini-powered feature will only take notes and will not transcribe everything that is said. Apart from this, it will also show the option to record the meeting as before.
Once the meeting ends, the ‘Take Notes for Me’ feature will attach the documents with AI-generated notes to the meeting’s calendar event and share it with all participants in the organization via email.
The advantage of this will be that latecomers will be able to use the ‘summary so far’ feature to know the meeting progress without disturbing the ongoing meeting. It is not clear whether any guests outside the organization will get access to this document or not.
Participants can tap on the same icon at any time during the meeting to view the summary created so far. However, this is currently only available on desktop or laptop and the note-taking feature is activated only when participants speak in English.
