Now claims of tobacco found in Tirupati temple’s laddu, another case amid allegations of fat

Tirupati News: The controversy continues over the alleged presence of animal fat in the prasad of the Tirupati temple. Meanwhile, a woman is claiming that a packet of tobacco was found inside the laddu found in Sri Venkateswara temple. However, the temple management has not said anything officially about this. Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu had alleged that animal fat was found in the laddu distributed in the Tirupati temple during Jagan Mohan Reddy’s government.

According to a report in India Today, Donthu Padmavati, a resident of Khammam district, has alleged that the laddu she received as prasad contained tobacco wrapped in paper. She had visited the Tirupati temple on September 19. During that time, she had brought prasad for family and neighbours.

Talking to the channel, she told that she found tobacco inside the laddu before distributing it. She said, ‘I was about to distribute the laddu when suddenly I got frightened after finding traces of tobacco in a small piece of paper.’ She expressed grief over this incident. She said, ‘Prasadam should be sacred and it is heart breaking to find such adulteration.’

The matter of fat in laddu reached the Supreme Court

Bharatiya Janata Party leader Subramanian Swamy has approached the Supreme Court seeking an inquiry into the alleged use of animal fat in making Tirupati Laddus. He has requested for an inquiry to be conducted under the supervision of the court. Swamy also posted about his petition on the social media platform ‘X’.

He wrote in the post, ‘Today I have filed a PIL asking the Supreme Court to order an inquiry into the baseless allegations made by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu. Naidu has alleged that the Tirupati Tirumala temple prasad has been adulterated with animal meat and other rotten substances, causing panic among the devotees.’
