Police said that the Rathods of the area caught the priest Vishnu Maharaj who was sleeping in the temple last night in Guda and took him to the forest. When people got information about the incident in the morning, they along with police and forest department personnel searched for Vishnu Maharaj and his mutilated body was found in the forest, about 300 meters away from the temple.
The police have taken the body into custody and kept it in the mortuary of Gogunda Community Hospital. It is noteworthy that there is terror of leopard in this area. The leopard had made its first kill on September 18, when Kamla, a girl who had gone to graze cattle, was killed. After this, the man-eating leopard is continuously hunting and last night Vishnu Maharaj became its sixth victim.
Efforts are being made by the Forest Department to catch the leopard by placing cages and till now four leopards have come in the cage but the man-eating leopard is still out of the cage and is continuously hunting humans.
Due to continuous incidents of leopard hunting humans, there is an atmosphere of great panic in the area and people are not mustering the courage to go out of their homes alone due to fear. The administration has also informed the area residents not to go out of their homes alone and to be careful.
