Oberoi Group Chairman Emeritus Prithvi Raj Singh Oberoi passed away on Tuesday at the age of 94. PRS Oberoi is considered to have made a very important contribution in giving a new direction to the hotel business in India. He resigned from the post of Executive Chairman of EIH Limited and Chairman of EIH Associated Hotels Limited in the year 2022.

In 2008, the Government of India honored Prithvi Raj Singh Oberoi with Padma Vibhushan, India’s second highest honour, for his contribution in taking forward the hotel business in India and giving it a new direction. He was given a Lifetime Achievement Award in the International Luxury Travel Market. Apart from this he was also honored with Forbes India Leadership Award, ‘Corporate Hotelier of the World Award by Hotels (Magazine) USA etc.

PRS Oberoi was born in the year 1929 in Delhi. His father Rai Bahadur MS Oberoi was the founder of ‘The Oberoi Group’. The last rites will be performed at Bhagwanti Oberoi Charitable Trust (Oberoi Farm) in Kapashera on Tuesday at 4 pm.
