Paris Olympics set a new record for viewership, how many crores of people watched it in India? This had never happened before

Paris Olympics 2024 has recently concluded. The ‘Mahakumbh of Sports’ Olympics was held in Paris, the capital of France, from 26 July to 11 August. Athletes from more than 200 countries participated in the Winter Olympic Games. Many players created new records. At the same time, a new record has been made in terms of viewership in India. All the old records of Olympic viewership in India have been broken.

Let us tell you that Viacom18 had the rights to broadcast the Paris Olympics in India. More than 17 crore viewers in India enjoyed the Olympics on various channels of Jio Cinema and Sports18 Network. There was a watch-time of more than 1500 crore minutes, which is a new record in India. For the first time in India, Olympic coverage was presented for free on JioCinema in 20 current feeds, which attracted a large number of viewers.

India got 6 medals

India’s performance in Paris Olympics was not as per expectations. India was expecting more than 10 medals but got only 3 (one silver, five bronze). India had sent a team of 117 athletes to Paris. India got the maximum of three medals in shooting. Star shooter Manu Bhaker created history by winning two medals. She is the first Indian player to win two medals in one Olympics. Javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra won silver. 21-year-old Aman Sehrawat won bronze in wrestling. He became India’s youngest Olympic medalist. Indian hockey team also won bronze.
