Parliament Winter Session Live: The government is likely to introduce two bills in Parliament on Tuesday to reserve 33 percent seats for women in the assemblies of Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Puducherry. Parliament had in September passed the ‘Nari Shakti Vandan’ Act to provide for reservation of one-third seats for women in the Lok Sabha and state assemblies. According to sources, the government is planning to introduce two bills on Tuesday to reserve 33 percent seats for women in the assemblies of Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Puducherry. Puducherry has 30 assembly constituencies while in Jammu and Kashmir, after delimitation, the total number of assembly seats increased to 114, of which 24 seats are designated for areas that fall under Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.
