Partha Chatterjee’s case different from Anubrata’s, cash seizure embarrassing: Trinamool MP

Trinamool Congress MP justifies party’s reaction
Said- Matters related to Partha Chatterjee and Anubrata Mandal are not the same
Seizure of huge amount of cash shameful for the party

Kolkata. Trinamool Congress MP Saugata Roy on Wednesday justified the split reaction given by the party to the arrests of Partha Chatterjee and Anubrata Mandal. He insisted that the seizure of huge amounts of cash was an embarrassment to the ruling party in West Bengal. Roy said that the Trinamool Congress has a zero tolerance policy towards corruption. He also said that both the cases (Parth Chatterjee and Anubrata Mandal) are not the same.

He said, ‘Parth Chatterjee’s case was clear as a huge amount of cash was found from the residence of his associate. That’s why the party took strict action against him. But the case of Anubrata Mandal and Trinamool MLA Manik Bhattacharya is not the same as only allegations of corruption have been leveled against them, they have not been proved. It is noteworthy that within a week of his arrest in July this year, Chatterjee, former state industries minister and Trinamool general secretary, was removed from all party posts along with his sacking from the cabinet.

The party showed the way out to Partha Chatterjee but stayed with Anubrata Mandal

After being arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in the school recruitment scam case, the party showed Chatterjee the exit while standing by Mandal, who has been arrested by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in a cattle smuggling case. Mandal continues to be the president of the Birbhum district unit of the Trinamool Congress. Trinamool MLA Bhattacharya has also been arrested this month in the school recruitment scam and no action has been taken by the party against him so far. Reacting to Roy’s remarks, the West Bengal unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) said his remarks “indicated the involvement of the Trinamool Congress in various corruption cases in the state”. BJP spokesperson Samik Bhattacharya said, “His remarks are shocking; The party is making a difference in cases of corruption. Such statements prove that Trinamool Congress is involved in corruption and scams in the state.
