Report – Abhishek Jaiswal
Varanasi. Before the great festival of Chhath (Chhath Puja 2022), it has become expensive to roam on the platform of Varanasi station. Northern Railway has increased the price of platform tickets at 14 junctions including Cantt railway station of Varanasi in view of the crowd at the station on the occasion of Chhath. At present, after the increase of Rs 20, now the price of platform ticket has gone up to Rs 50. This new system has also been implemented at Cantt railway station of Varanasi. According to the railway administration, till November 6, people will have to buy platform tickets at the increased price. Whereas people caught without a platform ticket will have to pay a fine of Rs 250. Before the great festival of Chhath, there is displeasure among the passengers and common people due to this decision of the railway administration. At the same time they are telling this decision wrong.
Vipin Yadav, who came to Varanasi’s Cantt railway station, told that this decision of the railway administration will cause a lot of trouble to the students. Apart from this, as far as controlling the crowd is concerned, there may be other avenues for that. It is not right to stop the crowd by increasing the ticket price. This will directly affect the pockets of the common people.
decision should be taken back
At the same time, another passenger, Balji Bajpayee, told that the railway administration has already closed all the facilities at the time of Corona. Now once again increasing the price of platform tickets has increased another burden of inflation on the common people. Railway administration should take back this decision.
New rate applicable on these 14 stations
The Lucknow division of Northern Railway had earlier on October 2 at Lucknow, Varanasi, Barabanki, Ayodhya, Akbarpur, Sultanpur, Rae Bareli, Bhadohi, Unnao, Pratapgarh and Janghai junctions also charged Rs 30 for platform tickets instead of Rs 10. Now again it has been increased to Rs 50 directly in view of the crowd on Chhath Mahaparv.
