Pension demand accepted, now it is the turn of minimum salary of government employees; know how much it can increase

The Narendra Modi government at the center gave a big relief to the government employees who were demanding the old pension system yesterday. For this, after returning from his visit to Ukraine yesterday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met with the representatives of the Joint Consultative Mechanism (JCM) on Saturday evening. He said that the cabinet’s approval for UPS is a big achievement for the central government employees. The demand for pension has almost been fulfilled. At the same time, the representatives of government employees have demanded a revision in the minimum wage from the government.

The head of the national council of JCM also demanded revision of the minimum wage for government employees to Rs 32,500 per month and urged lifting of the ban on creation of new posts in government departments, especially railways. After the meeting, the Prime Minister wrote on X, “Met a delegation from the staff side of JCM for Central Government employees. They expressed happiness over the Cabinet decision on UPS.”

The JCM is a statutory body for negotiations between the government and its employees to resolve issues amicably. More than a third of the people represented by the JCM are railway employees. “Most of the issues we had raised with the government have been resolved,” JCM chief M Raghavaiah said.

PM meets Employees Union

Before the Cabinet’s approval on the Unified Pension Scheme (UPS), Prime Minister Narendra Modi met a delegation of the Joint Consultative Mechanism (JCM) at his residence on Saturday evening. JCM Secretary Shiv Gopal Mishra, who led the delegation, told ‘Hindustan’ that the Prime Minister has accepted almost all the demands of the JCM.

This is the first time in India that the Prime Minister called JCM and held discussions with them. JCM represents 32 lakh central government employees. JCM said that this is a proud moment for them. The discussions with Prime Minister Modi were held in a cordial atmosphere. The Prime Minister has secured the future of the employees by implementing the Integrated Pension Scheme. We hope that the state government will also start implementing UPS.

Employees who retired in 2004 in UPS will get arrears with interest. Apart from this, family pension of 60 percent will be given. Apart from this, minimum pension of Rs 10,000 per month will be given. JPM was agitating for the old pension for the last several years. The Prime Minister took cognizance of it and fulfilled our demands. The employees union expresses its gratitude to him for this.
