Panaji: Goa Police has busted a racket involved in prostitution. This entire racket was being run from a resort in Goa. Giving information about the entire case on Thursday, an official said that two people have been arrested in connection with this case. According to the police, the resort used to organize ‘Mujra’ for its paying customers and during this the dancers were also sexually exploited. Deputy SP Jivba Dalvi said a police team raided a resort in Ashvem-Pernem in North Goa and rescued two female dancers aged around 23-24 years.
‘The owner of the resort is a native of Jharkhand’
The police officer said that both the girls are from ‘northern part of India’. Dalvi said, ‘In this connection, we have arrested the resort owner Vijay Kumar Sarkar, 44, a native of Jharkhand, and his assistant Ajit Kumar Jha, a resident of Bihar.’ He said the police have also recovered digital records and photographs of the victims, including online payments made to the accused persons. The police officer said, ‘We suspect that the accused used to get ‘Mujra’ done for rich clients. The dancing girls were surrounded by customers during this period.
‘Those watching Mujra will also be called for questioning’
The police officer said that the girls were sexually exploited after the Mujra. He said that the CCTV footage is being scrutinized and along with it other documents have also been taken into custody by the police. “We will call various guests suspected to have attended the mujra for questioning,” the officer said. Dalvi further said that both the accused were produced in the court from where they were sent to 10 days police custody. The police officer said that more arrests are likely to be made in this case.
