A petition has been filed in the Supreme Court regarding the increasing cyber crime in the country. Petitioner and Supreme Court lawyer Pradeep Yadav has said in the petition that people are becoming victims of cyber fraud on a large scale. Even former judges of the Supreme Court and High Court have been cheated. The petition also cites cyber fraud committed against a former Chief Justice of India and cyber fraud committed in the name of the current Chief Justice. The petitioner has demanded to form an expert committee under the supervision of a former Supreme Court judge which would give suggestions to stop cyber fraud.
CBI raid
Let us tell you that in this series, the Central Bureau of Investigation had recently arrested 26 cyber criminals involved in fraudulent activities. These criminals used to make people victims of cyber crime all over the world. Sharing information on Monday, officials said that under Operation Chakra-3, raids were conducted at 32 different places in Pune, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad and Visakhapatnam late on Thursday night. During this period, Rs 59.45 lakh in cash, three luxury vehicles and locker keys have been recovered. Of the places where the AJC raided, four call centers are located in Regent Plaza, Pune.
Many people were arrested
Officials said the CBI has arrested 170 people involved in online criminal activities in four call centres. Giving a statement, CBI spokesperson said that the cyber criminals who were targeted in this operation were involved in various types of illegal activities. They used to contact people in America in the name of providing technical support services, under the guise of which they hacked their systems and extorted money from them. He said that they are under the surveillance of the investigating agencies of their respective countries. Let us tell you that CBI has arrested 10 cyber criminals from Pune, 5 from Hyderabad and 11 from Visakhapatnam.
