New Delhi: The Indian Meteorological Department has predicted that most parts of the country will experience above normal heat from April to June this year, except for the peninsular areas of the south and parts of northwest India. Director General of the Indian Meteorological Department, Mrityunjay Mohapatra said that during this time, most parts of Central India, East and North-West India will be hit by heat wave. Heat wave days will be more in Bihar, Jharkhand, UP, Odisha, West Bengal, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Punjab and Haryana. It is a matter of relief that there will not be much heat in most parts of the country in the first 15 days of April. There is no chance of heat wave during this time. The heat will show its effect in the next fifteen days.

Heat wave is declared when the temperature in the plains exceeds 40 degrees Celsius or is 4.5 degrees above normal. Heat wave is considered when the temperature crosses 37 in coastal areas and 30 in mountainous areas.

On the other hand, rains will be less in East, Northeast India and parts of West Coast.

Due to this, El Nino conditions may prevail between July and September. In El Nino, the waters of the Pacific Ocean warm and weaken the monsoon.
