New Delhi: A domestic passenger plane crashed into Lake Victoria on Sunday morning while it was on its way to the northern city of Bukoba, according to officials, who said rescue efforts were on.

“There was an accident on a Precision Air plane, which … crashed into the water about 100 meters from the airport,” regional police commander William Mwampaghale told reporters. There was no immediate information on the number of passengers on board the plane.
