Indian runner Preeti Pal has won another medal at the Paris Paralympics. Preeti won bronze in the women’s 200m T35 category on Sunday. She achieved this feat with a personal best time of 30.01 seconds. Her bronze is also India’s second para athletics medal in Paris. This is India’s sixth medal overall at the Paralympics 2024.

Earlier, Preeti performed brilliantly on Friday and won bronze in the women’s 100m T35 race, which was India’s first athletics medal in a Paralympic track event. She won this bronze with a personal best time of 14.21 seconds. All the athletics medals won by India since the 1984 edition of the Paralympics came from field events.

T35 is for athletes with coordination disorders such as hypertonia, ataxia and athetosis. Preeti, the daughter of a farmer from Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh, was diagnosed with cerebral palsy at an early age. With great determination, she initially trained in Meerut and then moved to New Delhi to train on a synthetic track and this brought a huge change in her life.
