New Delhi: Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge’s troubles seem to be increasing. His family is embroiled in a land dispute. Meanwhile, BJP has also targeted him and has demanded a CBI inquiry into the matter, accusing him of scam.
BJP spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia targeted
The BJP on Tuesday alleged a scam in the allotment of land to a trust run by the family of Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge in Karnataka and demanded a CBI probe into the matter. Addressing a press conference at the BJP headquarters, the party’s national spokesperson Gaurav Bhatia demanded the resignation of Mallikarjun Kharge from the post of Congress president and his son Priyank Kharge, who is a minister in the Karnataka government. He also demanded the resignation of Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
Bhatia said, ‘There is continuity in Congress’ corruption. We will do corruption wherever we go, this is the new slogan of Congress. It would not be wrong to say that Congress has become synonymous with corruption.’ He said, ‘We have seen MUDS (Mysuru Urban Development Authority) scam and Valmiki Vikas Nigam scam happening under the nose of Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah. Now a case of allotment of five acres of land to a trust run by Mallikarjun Kharge and his family has come to light in Karnataka.’
The BJP spokesperson said that the plot was allotted to the trust run by the Kharge family by flouting the rules. He claimed that Mallikarjun Kharge, his wife, his son-in-law Radhakrishna and sons Priyank Kharge and Rahul Kharge are involved in this trust. Bhatia claimed, ‘According to the information available with us, many companies and organizations had applied for the plot, but by ignoring the rules, it was allotted to the trust run by the Kharge family.’
Karnataka minister MB Patil said this
Meanwhile, Karnataka minister MB Patil on Monday said that the educational trust run by Rahul Kharge, son of Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, was allotted a civic amenity (CA) plot in Aerospace Park at the prescribed price as per the norms. In a statement, Patil rejected the allegations levelled by Siroya and said that no rules were violated in the process.
What is the whole matter?
Actually, the Congress government of Karnataka has allotted 5 acres of land in Bengaluru to Siddharth Vihar Trust of Mallikarjun Kharge’s son Rahul Kharge. An RTI activist has complained about the allotment of government land to Karnataka Governor Thawar Chand Gehlot along with documents. After this, BJP has made it a big issue. It has been found out that in November last year, Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board had issued a tender for the land of the industrial park.
This tender also included the land of Bengaluru’s Hi-Tech Defense and Aero Park, in which civic amenities were to be developed. In March this year, Karnataka’s Heavy Industry Minister MB Patil allotted land to 43 SC-ST applicants, in which Mallikarjun Kharge’s son Rahul Kharge’s trust was also given 5 acres of land for Rs 25 crore. Apart from Rahul Kharge, Mallikarjun Kharge, his wife Radha Bai Kharge, son Priyank Kharge and Mallikarjun Kharge’s son-in-law Radhakrishna are also members of the Siddharth Vihar Trust to which the land has been given. Since government land is auctioned, but the Congress government allotted the land directly from the Dalit quota instead of auctioning it. That is why permission has been sought from the Governor to run a criminal case against Karnataka’s Heavy Industry Minister MB Patil.
Priyank Kharge gave clarification
When allegations were made from all sides, Mallikarjun Kharge’s son and Karnataka government minister Priyank Kharge gave clarification. Priyank Kharge said that BJP neither knows the rules nor has any proof of corruption. Kharge said that nothing will happen by just making allegations. If there is something wrong in the allotment of land, then BJP should prove it. (Input: also from Bhasha)
