Punjab CM orders, administration should take action on farmers who burn stubble

Chandigarh. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has prepared an eight-point plan to tackle the problem of stubble burning in the state. With regard to the campaign against stubble burning, the Chief Minister has decided to personally take stock of the efforts being made in all the districts to check this trend and asked the officials to implement the scheme in a mission mode. instructions have been given.

He said that as part of this scheme, the state government has recently distributed 30,000 machines for stubble disposal in the fields, taking the total number of such machines to 1.2 lakh. Bhagwant Mann further informed that all the farmers of the state have been given village-wise type of CRM machine and contact numbers of the owners by the Agriculture Department.

A campaign has been started across the state against stubble burning. He said that to make people aware against the problem of stubble burning, meetings are being held by MLAs and senior officials in sensitive areas, announcements from gurudwaras, meetings with sarpanches, farmer organizations and others. Bhagwant Mann said that similarly, the Health and Education Department is being ensured to be involved extensively in the campaign to make people aware about the dangerous trend of stubble burning.

The Chief Minister said that he has also asked the departments to encourage the panchayats and farmers for not burning stubble and ensure that farmers and panchayats who stop this trend are honored. Similarly, the officials have also been asked to provide quick data through internet to take immediate action on daily fire incidents. Instructions have been given to take strict action against the culprits who pollute the environment of the state by setting the stubble on fire.

Seeking people’s cooperation for this noble cause, the Chief Minister appealed to them to play an important role in preventing environmental pollution in the state. He said that now the time has come when every citizen should support the state government to make the state clean, green and pollution free. Bhagwant Mann said that the state government would leave no stone unturned for this noble cause.
