Ramanjit Singh alias Romi was declared a fugitive in the Nabha jail break case. But with the help of Punjab Police and security agencies, he is now being brought to India from Hong Kong. According to investigative agencies, Ramanjit was the nodal point of the terrorist gangster nexus. He was involved in many cases of drugs and arms smuggling.
Key role in Nabha jail break case
According to the agencies, Ramanjit played a key role in the Nabha jail break case in which several gangsters entered the jail posing as policemen and broke the high-security jail and freed 6 gangsters and major criminals.
Was arrested in Hong Kong in 2018
In the Nabha jail break case, Romi had provided money, weapons and other logistical support. A Red Corner Notice was issued against Ramanjit alias Romi in 2017, after which the Hong Kong police arrested him in 2018 and sent him to jail.
Attempts at extradition have been made since 2018
Recently, on 6 August 2024, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region issued an order for Ramanjit’s surrender on 6 August. According to the Punjab Police, since 2018, they were trying to extradite Ramanjit alias Romi and the Punjab Police had also gone to Hong Kong. These efforts have now been successful.
