Congress leader Sam Pitroda has praised Rahul Gandhi and said that he is more intelligent than his father Rajiv Gandhi. He said that Rahul Gandhi is the guardian of the concept of India. Pitroda said that Rahul Gandhi is more intelligent than former PM Rajiv Gandhi and is also better than him in terms of strategy making. Pitroda stressed that Rahul Gandhi, the leader of opposition in Lok Sabha, has all the qualities to become the Prime Minister. Pitroda, the president of ‘Indian Overseas Congress’, rejected the BJP’s allegations that Rahul had made comments critical of the Indian government during his previous foreign trips, calling them ‘false’.
Rahul Gandhi is going to America next week. Pitroda said that Rahul Gandhi is not coming here on an official visit, but during this time he will get a chance to interact with various people on a ‘personal level’ at Capitol Hill (US Parliament complex). Pitroda said, ‘Rahul will definitely interact with the press at the National Press Club, he will meet people from think tanks and will address people at Georgetown University, which is equally important in Washington DC.’
This will be Rahul’s first visit to the US after assuming the post of Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha. He will be in the US from September 8 to 10 during which he will hold several important meetings in Washington DC and Dallas besides interacting with people at Georgetown University and University of Texas. Asked about the similarities and differences between Rajiv Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi, Pitroda said he has worked with several Prime Ministers including Rajiv Gandhi, PV Narasimha Rao, Manmohan Singh, VP Singh, Chandra Shekhar and HD Devegowda.
He said, ‘I got the opportunity to work very closely with many Prime Ministers, but the difference between Rahul and Rajiv is probably that Rahul is much more intelligent and a better strategist. Rajiv believed more in work. Both have the same DNA, their concerns and feelings for the people are the same, they really believe in making a ‘better India’ for everyone, they are really simple people. They do not have any big personal ambitions.’
After this, Pitroda praised Rahul and said, ‘Rahul is a better strategist than his father Rajiv. Both are leaders of different times, who faced different issues and whose experiences are also different. Poor Rahul had to face two big shocks in his life (death of his grandmother and his father). Therefore, he has faced different challenges.’ He said that the principles of Rahul and Rajiv have been very clear, both are “guardians of the concept of India” which was imagined by the Congress and every leader of the party believed in it.
