The controversy over the statement given by the Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha, Rahul Gandhi, regarding Sikhs is increasing. After accusing the Sikhs of not having religious freedom in India, BJP’s Sikh leaders protested against Rahul Gandhi in Delhi on Wednesday. Congress alleges that during this time, BJP leader and former MLA Tarvinder Singh Marwah threatened Rahul Gandhi that he would meet the same fate as Indira Gandhi. Congress party has also shared the video of this.
Congress party has made this allegation by sharing an 11 second video on x handle. Congress has targeted PM Modi and demanded action against the leader who threatened. Congress wrote, ‘Delhi BJP leader and former MLA, Tarvinder Singh Marwah said during the protest today- ‘Rahul Gandhi, come back, otherwise in the coming time, you will also meet the same fate as your grandmother’. This BJP leader is openly threatening to murder the Leader of Opposition of the country. Narendra Modi ji, you cannot remain silent on the threat of this leader of your party. This is a very serious matter. This is the product of your party’s hate factory. Action has to be taken on this.
Till the time of writing the news, there was no reaction from the BJP on this. However, while responding to the post, many people definitely reminded the Congress that Marwah was a Congress leader and Rahul Gandhi also used to praise him. Congress leaders allege that Marwah was hinting towards the assassination of Indira Gandhi. After Operation Blue Star, in 1984, the then Prime Minister and Rahul Gandhi’s grandmother was assassinated by her Sikh bodyguards Satwant Singh and Beant Singh.
It is worth noting that Marwah was a Congress leader till two years ago. In July 2022, he left the Congress and joined the BJP. Tarvinder Singh Marwah has been an MLA from Jangpura assembly seat thrice on a Congress ticket. Rahul Gandhi himself had praised Tarvinder Singh during the assembly elections in 2020. While holding a rally for Marwah in Jangpura, Rahul Gandhi praised his bravery. Rahul had said that Marwah had gone to Pakistan and raised the slogan of Hindustan Zindabad and even went to jail there.
