Rain wreaks havoc in Himachal Pradesh, 72 roads closed – Hindustan News Hub

72 roads were closed in Himachal Pradesh

72 roads have been closed after rain in Himachal Pradesh and the local weather office has warned of heavy rain at sporadic places on September 2 as well. Officials gave this information on Saturday. According to the State Emergency Operation Center, of the 72 roads that have been closed, 35 are in Shimla, 15 in Mandi, nine in Kullu and one each in Una, Sirmaur and Lahaul and Spiti districts. According to it, 10 electricity and 32 water supply schemes have also been disrupted due to rain in the state. According to the center, 150 people have died in rain-related incidents in the state since the arrival of monsoon on June 27.

Heavy damage due to rain in Himachal Pradesh

The state has suffered a loss of Rs 1265 crore due to rain. Many parts of the state have been receiving intermittent rainfall since Friday evening. Sundarnagar received 44.8 millimetres (mm), Shilaru 43.1 mm, Jubbarhatti 20.4 mm, Manali 17 mm, Shimla 15.1 mm, Slipper 11.3 mm and Dalhousie 11 mm of rain. The local weather office has issued a ‘yellow’ alert for heavy rain, thunderstorm and lightning at scattered places in the state on September 2. On the other hand, heavy rain is expected in rain-hit Gujarat due to cyclone Asna.

There is a possibility of a storm in Gujarat

Let us tell you that Gujarat is already facing the brunt of heavy rains and thousands of people have had to be displaced. At the same time, a red alert has been issued in the areas adjacent to the Arabian Sea in Karnataka. According to the Meteorological Department, there may be heavy rains in the northeastern states of the country and Central India. At the same time, an orange alert has been issued for five eastern states including Odisha. There may be heavy rains in South Indian states as well. However, the weather is expected to be normal in other North Indian states including Delhi and Uttar Pradesh. Storm Asna, which formed on the Arabian Sea off the coast of Gujarat, has also turned towards Oman. In such a situation, the people of Gujarat have breathed a sigh of relief.
