Udhampur. Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and National Conference (NC) President Farooq Abdullah on Thursday targeted the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), saying that the party used Ram’s name only to remain in power. But Rama is not the only God of the Hindus. In a rally organized by the Panthers party in Udhampur, Abdullah said that ‘Ram is not just the God of Hindus. Please remove this notion from your mind. Lord Rama is the Lord of all those who have faith in him. Be it Muslim or Christian, American or Russian.

The head of the National Conference said that ‘those who come to you saying that we are the only devotees of Ram, they are fools. They want to take advantage of Ram’s name. He loves power not Ram. He said that ‘I think that when elections will be announced in Jammu and Kashmir, they will inaugurate the Ram temple to divert the attention of the common man.’ On the issue of unity among non-BJP parties, Abdullah said that ‘there will be no hindrance in our unity’. Be it Congress, NC or Panthers Party. We will fight and die for the people. But we will all remain united.

Farooq Abdullah said Ram belongs to everyone, cannot differentiate between God and Allah

Abdullah raised questions on the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) and asked people to be cautious about its use. He also cautioned people against attempts of religious polarization ahead of elections in the union territory. Significantly, earlier in February too, Farooq Abdullah had said in the Lok Sabha that Lord Ram is not the God of any one religion but of all Indians. He warned the government that if discrimination is promoted in the name of God and Allah, then the danger of disintegration of the country will arise once again.
