Pachhad Assembly Seat: In view of the assembly elections in Himachal, the political mercury has now reached its peak. Five days later, on November 12, polling will be held for 68 assembly seats in the state and the results will be declared on December 8. In Himachal (Himachal), the ruling BJP has given full force in the election campaign, but the electoral equations remain very interesting in one seat and that seat is the second. There is a fight between two women in this reserved (SC) constituency.
Here sitting BJP MLA Reena Kashyap will face Dayal Pyari, who lost the election last time as a BJP rebel. This time she is hitting the electoral fray on a Congress ticket. Along with this, State BJP President and MP Suresh Kashyap is also an MP from here and hence his reputation is also at stake.
Ticket was not given in the by-election
Suresh Kashyap had won this seat in 2012 and 2017. At the same time, after becoming an MP in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Zilla Parishad member Dayal Pyari was seen as the main face of BJP from here for the 2019 by-elections. However, Suresh Kashyap and CM Jai Ram Thakur’s camp did not give him a ticket, as Payari was from former CM Prem Kumar Dhumal’s camp.
Reena Kashyap got ticket
After this, BJP gave ticket to Reena Kashyap, who was also a Zilla Parishad member. Dayal Pyari contested the election as an independent. Although she lost in that election, she got 11,698 votes and came third. In second place was Congress candidate Gangu Ram Musafir, a former minister and Speaker of the Assembly. In 2017, he got 19,359 votes as against Reena Kashyap’s 22,167.
Both women started politics with BJP
Both the women started their political career in BJP. Prior to 2017, Payari had won the Zilla Parishad election thrice from different wards. According to the Indian Express, Jai Prakash Chauhan, who was appointed Congress block president in Pachhad, said, “His voters in the BJP are still with him. He also has the support of those who are against the Suresh Kashyap camp. Scheduled Castes in the constituency.” Voters will also accompany him, as BJP President Suresh Kashyap and sitting MLA Reena Kashyap never attended meetings of Dalit groups.”
‘People of assembly constituency are angry with BJP’
Chouhan questioned the BJP’s big election promise that there is no notification to give tribal status to the Hatti community and said the condition of roads in the constituency is pathetic. The local people are angry with the BJP, as there are no staff in schools and health centres. On the other hand, about Congress rebel Gangu Ram Musafir, Chouhan said that only those who get personal benefit from the passenger are with him, the rest are committed to the Congress.
