In the case of rape and murder of a female doctor in Kolkata’s RG Kar Hospital, the CBI has told the court that former principal Dr. Sandeep Ghosh had also rigged the recruitment of doctors in the hospital and got doctors of his choice appointed. Apart from this, the agency has also accused him of giving hospital contracts by violating the rules.
According to the Times of India report, Sandeep Ghosh used to conduct interviews arbitrarily for the appointment of house staff. There was no panel for the interview. Only the final marks of the interview were issued before the appointment. The agency alleges that Sandeep Ghosh himself used to make the list of house staff in which many qualified trainee doctors were left out.
Apart from this, the agency alleges that the hospital management was being rigged for a long time. The agency had arrested Sandeep Ghosh last month for financial mismanagement. The CBI is also investigating how Nargis, the wife of a security guard of the hospital, got the contract of the hospital canteen. According to the agency, the woman’s company Ashan Cafe was given the contract wrongly. It also came to light that the non-refundable caution money was also returned to the guard’s wife.
An official told PTI that Ghosh ran a nexus of criminals. Many other people were also involved in his work. Two vendors, security guards and others involved in financial mismanagement have also been arrested. There are two vendors who knew Ghosh from the time he was in Murshidabad Medical College. It was revealed that they were given contracts because of their closeness.
The officer said that evidence has been found which shows corruption. He said that the security guards themselves used to contact the vendors and sell the biomedical waste. Let us tell you that the body of a female trainee doctor was found in the hospital on 9 August. The autopsy revealed that she was also raped. The police had arrested a police civic volunteer Sanjay Rai in this case.
