Morbi Bridge Collapse: On Sunday (30 October) in Morbi, Gujarat, there was a major accident due to the breakdown of the cable bridge (Morbi Cable Bridge). So far 60 people have died in this accident, while more than 100 people have been injured. Around 500 people were on the bridge at the time of the accident. The District Magistrate of Morbi said that they have rescued a total of 170 people so far.
This incident happened when people were celebrating Chhath festival on this bridge built on the Machhu river. This bridge was closed for the last seven months and was opened three days ago for people without a fitness certificate.

Chief Minister expressed grief
Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel has expressed grief over the incident by tweeting on the Morbi Bridge accident. He said that he is deeply saddened by the Morbi bridge accident. Relief and rescue work is going on by the administration. The administration was directed to make arrangements for immediate treatment of the injured. He said that he is in constant touch with the injured.
CM himself took command of the rescue operation
In the Morbi Bridge accident, the command of the rescue operation has been taken over by CM Bhupendra Patel himself. CM Patel said that I myself am reaching Morbi to review the situation. According to media reports, the CM of Gujarat and the Minister of State for Home will remain in Morbi till the rescue operation is done.
