Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister J. C. Madhuswamy said that the government had earlier decided to issue an executive order to increase the quota. We had earlier felt that an executive decision would suffice, but later felt that if it is questioned in court, it may create problems, so we have decided to bring an ordinance.
He said the ordinance justifies the increase in reservation with a detailed note citing various sections of the Constitution. We have emphasized that earlier there were only six castes under Scheduled Castes in Karnataka, to which now 103 castes, nomadic and slum dwellers have been added, hence there has been a huge increase in the population.
ST Reservation: Now the fight for reservation will be fought in the Supreme Court, tribal representatives of Congress will give one month’s salary
