Rising India, Real Heroes: Meet ‘Sparrow’s friend’ Indrapal Batra, who was praised by PM Narendra Modi

Inderpal Singh Batra, a resident of Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, dedicated his life to save sparrows. In an effort to save these birds, he has made them a home in his own house. Inderpal Singh Batra is on a campaign to arrest the decline in the sparrow population due to rapid urbanisation. In the beginning of the year 2000, Indrapal decided to save the sparrow. Then he started buying pottery. Then drilled a hole in it and decided to fill it with twigs to make a nest for the birds.

Indrapal Singh Batra’s house now has more than 100 nests. In this campaign that started with a few sparrows, now the number of birds has increased to more than 2500. His efforts have turned his home into a sanctuary for these birds.
