River Pollution Level: 131 rivers polluted, highest in Tamil Nadu and Gujarat, know the condition of Ganga and Yamuna

New Delhi. There has been a lot of politics in the country to save rivers like Ganga-Yamuna from contamination, but the Ministry of Jal Shakti has told in the Parliament that 131 rivers of 30 states have been contaminated. These include 8 rivers of Jammu and Kashmir. Among the water sources of polluted rivers, the most polluted river is Kum river of Tamil Nadu and Sabarmati river of Gujarat. This situation is not only worrisome for the country, but is also a threat to the health of crores of Indians.

Congress MP from Assam, Abdul Khaliq had asked the Ministry of Jal Shakti about the polluted rivers of the country. In response to this, the Ministry of Jal Shakti told that 131 water source rivers of 30 states have been contaminated. The most polluted rivers include two rivers of Gujarat. Gujarat’s Sabarmati river with 292 pollution rating and Bhadar river with 258 rating, while Tamil Nadu’s Coum river with 345 and Uttar Pradesh’s Bhila river with 287 pollution rating are the most polluted.

The names of Chuntkol, Tawi, Banganga, Devak, Jheelam, Liddar, Basantar, Gaonkadal are included in the polluted rivers of Jammu and Kashmir. Tapi river is the most polluted river of Kashmir with pollution rating of 14, while Chuntak 11 and Devak are in second and third place with 10 pollution rating. The pollution level of Yamuna river in Delhi is 83, while the pollution level of Yamuna in Noida becomes 127.

Although the condition of Ganga is quite satisfactory. The pollution level of Ganga between Farrukhabad to Allahabad, Mirzapur, Ghazipur is only 6, but the pollution level of Sirsia Ganga in Bihar becomes 30. The Brahmaputra Bharalu, the largest river in the state of Assam, has a pollution level of 76, while the Dhangar river in Punjab is the most polluted river in the state with a pollution level of 210, followed by the Sutlej river with a pollution level of 120.

At the same time, the pollution level of Mahananda, the most polluted river in West Bengal, is 31, while the most polluted river in Uttar Pradesh is Bhila Tanda, whose pollution level is 287. The pollution level of Kali river of Muzaffarnagar is 81. On reaching Kannauj from Meerut, the pollution level of Kali river becomes 144, while the pollution level of Hindon river is also 126. The pollution level of Vashishtha river in Tamil Nadu is 230.

MP Abdul Khaliq expressed concern over the situation: MP Abdul Khaliq, who has asked questions on this whole issue, says that this is a very worrying situation and it is clear that in the last 8 years, a lot of politics has been done on cleaning Ganga-Yamuna and contaminating water, but no work has been done. The pollution of the Sabarmati river, named after Bapu, is one of the most polluted rivers in the country.
