Sabarmati Express derailed near Kanpur, all passengers safe, helpline issued

19168 Sabarmati Express going from Varanasi to Ahmedabad derailed near Bhimsen station at around 2:30 in the night. There is no loss of life or property in this and no one is reported to be injured. According to the driver, prima facie a boulder hit the engine due to which the cattle guard of the engine was badly damaged/bent. Rail accident train has been dispatched from Kanpur Central to the spot. Passenger facility center has been opened at the Central station.

Assistant Commercial Manager Santosh Kumar Tripathi informed that along with the accident relief train, a medical vehicle has also been dispatched. A high level inquiry has been ordered into the derailment of the Sabarmati train. The DRM of Prayagraj division has also left for the accident site.

All arrangements for the convenience of passengers have been made by the railway administration. Passengers are being sent to Kanpur by bus. Senior officers are present at the accident site and the control office. Accident relief vehicle has also departed.
