Sameer Wankhede: Nawab Malik’s troubles increased, Sameer Wankhede lodged FIR, alleging fake certificate

Mumbai: Sameer Wankhede, former director of Mumbai Division of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), has filed a defamation complaint against former Maharashtra minister Nawab Malik. Based on this complaint, the city police registered a case against Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader Malik, an official said. Wankhede lodged the complaint on Sunday after getting a ‘clean chit’ from the Mumbai District Caste Certificate Verification Committee of the Social Justice Department of Maharashtra. The committee had probed allegations of submission of fake caste certificates by Wankhede to get government jobs.

Malik had alleged that Wankhede had submitted a fake caste certificate to get a government job. “Sameer Wankhede has lodged a complaint with the Goregaon police station against Nawab Malik, who is in jail for an alleged money laundering case,” the official said on Sunday.

Defamation charges against Malik
He said, “Police on Sunday registered an FIR against Malik on the complaint of a former NCB officer on defamation charges.” The District Caste Certificate Verification Committee, in its order on Friday, had said, The officers of Wankhede were not Muslim by birth. It has been proved that she belongs to the Mahar caste, which falls under the Scheduled Caste (SC) category.” After receiving the committee’s order, Wankhede went to the police station and lodged a complaint against Malik.
