Sarkaghat: Vandana of Brang village suffering from blood cancer, reached to CM for help, Rs 35 lakh needed for treatment

Shimla. 21-year-old Vandana had dreamed of joining the police. Before the dream was fulfilled, destiny played such a game with him that now the time has come to save his life. Vandana Kumari, who has done ITI, is suffering from blood cancer. The hospital says that it will cost Rs 35 lakh for the treatment. Father is helpless. He is a gardener in the horticulture department and cannot afford this much. There is not even a mother to give support and courage to the daughter. Mother has passed away. There is an elder brother, who drives a truck and an elder sister is married. The case pertains to village Brang in Dharampur tehsil of Sarkaghat in Mandi district of Himachal Pradesh.

Money could not be arranged anywhere, so on Monday, Vandana along with her brother reached Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu in Shimla for financial help with a letter. He called his MLA Chandrashekhar in the assembly. MLA Chandrashekhar heard the call, immediately got up from the House and went straight to the Chief Minister with both the children. The CM spoke to the daughter and the MLA took complete information from her father. The CM assured all possible help by signing Vandana’s letter. An assurance of Rs 5 lakh has been received from the CM as initial help. MLAs will also help from their side.

According to the information, Vandana is a resident of Lower Brag village of Dharampur tehsil of Mandi district. Vandana’s elder brother Ravi Pal, 23, told that about a year and a half ago when she was preparing for police recruitment, she suddenly started having chest pain. Thinking it to be a common disease, he took medicine on the advice of the doctor but did not get any relief. When the pain increased, he reached Indira Gandhi Medical Hospital, Shimla. It was found in the hospital that the disease is serious and the stage has also increased. Ravi told that the doctors of IGMC treated using the facilities available here. When the doctors told him that further treatment is not possible here, he would have to go to PGI Chandigarh.
