In view of the Haryana Assembly Elections 2024, the Congress Party has released its manifesto on Wednesday. In its manifesto, the Congress has announced seven important promises, which include a legal guarantee of Minimum Support Price (MSP) for farmers and a promise to conduct a caste survey. In the manifesto, the Congress has promised to give a monthly pension of Rs 6,000 to the elderly, disabled and widows under its social security scheme. Along with this, an assurance has been given to re-implement the old pension scheme after coming to power.
Among the promises made by the Congress in its manifesto for the Haryana elections is a monthly pension of Rs 2,000 to women in the age group of 18-60 years. The party has also promised to provide 300 units of free electricity to every household and free medical treatment up to Rs 25 lakh. Keeping the farmer class in mind, the Congress has promised a legal guarantee for the Minimum Support Price (MSP).
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge released this manifesto during a program held in Delhi today. Kharge said, “We have given seven guarantees and we will fulfill them. Apart from this, there are many other promises, which will be explained in detail in the 53-page manifesto released in Chandigarh.”
In this manifesto of Congress, there is also a promise to limit the price of LPG cylinder to Rs 500, pension of Rs 6000 to the elderly, widows and disabled and re-implementation of old pension scheme for government employees. Along with this, the party has also assured to provide 300 units of free electricity and free treatment up to Rs 25 lakh. For the youth, Congress has promised 2 lakh jobs and to make the state drug-free. The manifesto also includes a plan to provide 100 yards of plot for free to the poor to build a house and to provide two-room houses for Rs 3.5 lakh.
For farmers, Congress has promised a legal guarantee on Minimum Support Price (MSP) and immediate compensation for crop loss. Keeping social justice in mind, the party has announced to increase the creamy layer limit in the OBC category from Rs 8 lakh to Rs 10 lakh. Along with this, a state-wide caste census has also been promised if it comes to power.
Haryana Congress president Uday Bhan said that under the Congress rule, Haryana was one of the most developed states in the country. He said, “Congress will again make Haryana number one in employment, industrialization, agriculture, sports and law and order.” He also alleged that crime has become the hallmark of Haryana under the BJP rule.
Congress is getting ready to challenge BJP in the 90-member Haryana Assembly. The election results will be declared on October 8. In the 2019 elections, BJP won 40 seats and Congress was reduced to 31 seats. This time Congress is hopeful that it can return to power in Haryana after a good performance in the Lok Sabha elections.
