Amit Shah Chairs Meeting In Delhi: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday directed the security forces to continue coordinated efforts to wipe out terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir through vigilant and well-planned counter-terrorist operations. In a review meeting on the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir, Shah said that there is a need to destroy the terror environment which is harmful to the welfare of the common man, which helps terrorists and separatist operations.

The Union Home Minister asked the security forces and police to continue coordinated efforts to wipe out terrorism through vigilant and well-planned counter-terrorist operations, an official statement said. Shah reviewed the functioning of the security grid and the various steps taken in the last few years to bring down the incidents of terrorism. He appreciated the efforts of the security agencies and the administration of Jammu and Kashmir to successfully organize the Amarnath Yatra after a gap of two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

UAPA cases also reviewed
Amit Shah said that the people of Jammu and Kashmir will give a decisive defeat to the proxy war with the help of security forces once the fear of terrorists, arms and ammunition coming from across the border is over. In the meeting, the cases registered under the Unlawful Activities Act (UAPA) were reviewed and it was emphasized that investigation should be done in a timely and effective manner.

These officers including Ajit Doval were also present
National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval, Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Union Home Secretary Ajay Bhalla and senior officials of Central and Union Territory Administrations also attended the meeting chaired by Shah. At least three attempts were made to infiltrate from across the border into Indian territory in Pallanwala sector of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday night. Officials said one of the militants tried to escape but was injured in firing by soldiers and was captured alive. However, two other terrorists managed to escape. At the same time, on the night of 22-23 August, a group of two to three terrorists tried to infiltrate into Lam sector of Nowshera. But two terrorists were killed on the spot when the landmines exploded. On August 11, terrorists attacked an Army camp in Rajouri district, killing four soldiers.
