Shahzad Ali, the main accused who was absconding after stone pelting on the police station in Chhatarpur, Madhya Pradesh, has been arrested. Police caught him near the traffic police station in Chhatarpur on Tuesday. Shahzad Ali, who was the owner of a mansion worth crores and expensive cars till 6 days ago, was caught travelling in an e-rickshaw. He was travelling in an e-rickshaw with his face covered with a cloth. Police arrested him and took him to the same Kotwali police station where he was wanted in the stone pelting case.
Shahzad Ali, who kept changing his hideouts for several days, was planning to surrender in Chhatarpur court. To dodge the police, he left for the court in an e-rickshaw like a common man. On the information of intelligence, the police started checking vehicles in the entire city since morning. Vehicles were being searched on every road leading to the court. During this time, a person was seen hiding his face in an e-rickshaw. When the policemen got suspicious, they stopped the e-rickshaw and asked the person hiding his face to remove the cloth. While removing the cloth, the policemen recognized Shahzad Ali and immediately arrested him.
From here he was immediately taken to the police station. He was questioned extensively in a separate room. A reward of Rs 10,000 was declared on Shahzad Ali. A lookout circular was also issued against Shahzad fearing that he might flee the country.
SP Agam Jain confirmed the arrest of Shahzad Ali while talking to Hindustan. He said that the teams were trying hard for four days to arrest Ali. We have received information that he was trying to hide at different places. He will be produced in the court and remand will be sought and interrogation will be done. He said that six cases are already registered against Shahzad Ali, they are also being investigated.
On August 21, Shahzad Ali was leading the mob that reached the police station in Maharashtra to register a case against the accused for allegedly making a comment on Prophet Mohammad. During this, the mob turned violent and the police station was pelted with stones. Three policemen including the station in-charge were injured. The next day, the administration demolished Shahzad Ali’s mansion worth crores with a bulldozer. During this, three expensive cars parked in the premises were also destroyed.
