A shocking incident has come to light from Odisha’s capital Bhubaneswar. A case of alleged assault on an army officer and molestation of his female friend has come to light at Bharatput police station here. Actually, the army officer and his female friend had gone to the police station to lodge a complaint of road rage but here they were allegedly assaulted and their female friend was molested. Now the crime branch of Odisha Police has started investigating this case. Let’s know about this case.
What is the whole matter?
The army officer posted in West Bengal and his girlfriend had reached Bharatput police station in Bhubaneswar to lodge a complaint of road rage. They were allegedly harassed by some local youths. However, the two got into an argument with the policemen over registering an FIR at the police station. After this, the army officer was allegedly kept in the lock-up.

It is alleged that the female friend of the army officer was taken to a separate room by a female officer, where she was allegedly beaten up, stripped and molested. It is alleged that the officer was detained for more than 10 hours before being released after the intervention of army officials. On the other hand, the police have registered a case against the female friend of the army officer.
Indian Army also took cognizance
The Central Command of the Indian Army has posted a post on X regarding this entire incident. The Army said that there has been a report in the media about an incident of misbehavior with a military officer at Bharatpur police station in Odisha. The Indian Army takes this incident seriously. The matter has been raised before the state authorities for necessary action.
The matter reached the High Court
The Orissa High Court heard the petition of the army officer’s female friend and ordered the police to get the woman treated at AIIMS. The woman’s lawyer has said that two petitions have been filed in the High Court. The first petition was for bail and the second is a review petition requesting to quash the FIR lodged against the woman. The bail petition will be heard on Wednesday.
What has the police said?
A police officer claimed that both the army officer and his female friend reached the police station in an inappropriate state. When they were asked to lodge a written complaint about the road rage incident, they refused. Instead, they misbehaved with other policemen including a woman policeman. (input language)
