Irani Cup Shardul Thakur Hospital- The Irani Cup 2024 match is underway between Mumbai and Rest of India at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. In this match, Mumbai batsman Sarfaraz Khan scored a double century and took the team to a big score. But during this period, Mumbai’s problems increased when team all-rounder Shardul Thakur was admitted to the hospital due to high fever. Shardul Thakur has been tested for malaria and dengue, the report of which is yet to come. He spent Wednesday night in the hospital, the doctor will decide whether he will come on the field to play the match on Thursday or not only after the report comes.
The Irani Cup started from October 1 and Shardul Thakur had mild fever since the first day of the match. It is being told that on the second day, he batted with Sarfaraz Khan for almost two hours and made an important partnership of 73 runs for the 9th wicket. During this time his fever increased and after the match he was admitted to a nearby hospital.
“He was not feeling well the whole day and had high fever, which was the main reason why he came to bat late. He was feeling weak and after taking medicine he came to the dressing room,” a source told The Indian Express. “But he wanted to bat despite feeling weak. We are waiting for the results. Till then, he will spend the night in the hospital.”
Despite fever and fatigue, he faced 59 balls and scored 36 runs with the help of one six and four fours. He mainly tried to stay consistent and did not play any shot in haste.
This was his first home match after recovering from the leg surgery he had undergone in June this year. He suffered an injury during the Ranji Trophy last season, but he played despite the pain and played an important role in helping his team win the title. But the injury resurfaced during India’s tour of South Africa earlier this year.
