Sanjay Roy, accused in the rape and murder case of a doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, has told his lawyer Kavita Sarkar that he is innocent and is being framed. Sanjay Roy was arrested on August 10, a day after the brutal murder based on CCTV footage. His Bluetooth headset was also found inside the seminar hall where the incident took place. According to his lawyer, he also pleaded not guilty during the polygraph test.
According to a report in the Times of India, Sanjay Roy was asked 10 questions, including what he did after allegedly killing the woman. He told CBI officials that the question was wrong because he did not kill her. Live Hindustan cannot independently verify the claims made in the report.
I am being framed – accused
According to the report, Roy claimed in the polygraph test that the trainee doctor was unconscious when he entered the seminar hall of the hospital. He claimed that he saw the doctor covered in blood inside the seminar room on August 9. He claimed that he panicked and ran out of the room. Sanjay Roy also claimed that he did not know the victim and that he was being framed. When asked why he did not tell the police if he was innocent, Roy said that he was afraid that no one would believe him.
Anyone else could be the culprit- lawyer
On the other hand, Kavita Sarkar has said that the culprit could be someone else. She said, “If he had reached the seminar hall so easily, it shows that there was a lapse in security that night and someone else could have taken advantage of it.” It is worth noting that on August 9, the trainee doctor was raped and killed inside the seminar hall of the hospital. She had gone to rest in the hall after her 36-hour shift. The post-mortem revealed sexual assault and 25 external and several internal injuries on her body.
