Siwan: Paddy purchase will start in Siwan from today, payment will be done directly in the account of farmers

Siwan. Paddy procurement is going to start from today (November 1) in Siwan district of Bihar. This time 109 committees will buy paddy. For this, Siwan Central Cooperative Bank has given cash credit of Rs 9 crore 74 lakh 61 thousand 805 to 109 societies. With this amount, one lot of paddy will be purchased by the committee. At the same time, the cash credit limit will be increased if needed, so that paddy can be purchased according to the target. In this regard, DSO Nikesh Kumar said that last year 1.15 lakh MT of paddy was procured. However, this time the target has not been decided yet.

From today to February 15, through 109 committees selected in 19 blocks of Siwan district, paddy will be procured from farmers. At the same time, after purchasing paddy, rice will be prepared and made available by the committees to Bihar State Food Corporation by July 31, 2023. For this also warehouses are being marked.

Will be buying from farmers on support price
In Siwan district, paddy will be procured from farmers on support price. For this, the central government has fixed the support price of Rs 2040 per quintal for general category of paddy and Rs 2060 per quintal for grade-A. Along with this, the committee will buy paddy up to 17 percent moisture. At the same time, only a maximum of 250 quintals of paddy will be procured from the ryot farmer (land owner), and a maximum of 100 quintals from the sharecropper farmer.

This is how money will go to farmers’ account
For the first time, through the Bihar State Food and Civil Supplies Corporation, the minimum support price of paddy will go to the accounts of lakhs of farmers of Siwan district. For this account will be opened by SFC in cooperative banks located at district headquarters. Prior to this, the amount has been sent to the account of farmers only through cooperative banks.

Siwan Central Co-Operative Bank’s loan officer Ranjit Kumar Singh told News18 Local that a CC of Rs 8 lakh 94 thousand 145 has been provided to each committee. Cash credit of Rs 9.74 crore has been provided to these societies for total paddy purchase. All the packs have been given one lot of paddy money. This amount will increase after the purchase of paddy. The Minimum Support Price of paddy will be made available through PFMS within 48 hours of purchasing paddy from farmers. Farmers will get information through message on mobile when the amount is deposited in the account. If this does not happen, then farmers can check it by getting their bank statement out.
