Speaking against Modi proved costly, two ministers were ‘dealt with’ before Muizzu’s visit to India

Mohammad Muizzu News: Maldives President Mohammad Muizzu is now constantly working towards improving his relations with India. Muizzu, who is said to be a stooge of China, has taken resignation from his two ministers who had used abusive language against PM Modi. This step has been taken by his government before Mohammad Muizzu’s visit to India. Maldives President Mohammad Muizzu announced on Tuesday that he will make an official visit to India very soon. It is noteworthy that this announcement was made on the day when resignations were taken from the ministers who had used abusive language against PM Modi.

According to AFP report, Maldives President’s Office’s chief spokesperson Hina Waleed gave information in this regard and said that the date of the visit has not been decided yet, and discussions are going on about a convenient time for the leaders of both the countries. Muizzu visited New Delhi on June 9 for the swearing-in ceremony of Indian Prime Minister Modi, but after that he first visited Turkey and China.

Recently, tensions were seen in the relations between India and Maldives especially when Muizzu asked the Indian military personnel deployed on three aviation platforms gifted by India to Maldives to leave within hours of assuming office. After this, the Indian military personnel were replaced by civilian personnel. In January, three Maldivian deputy ministers made controversial comments on social media against Prime Minister Modi and India, which further increased the differences between the two countries.

The announcement of Muizzu’s visit to India and the resignation of ministers indicate that Maldives is now making efforts to improve its relations with India. Recently, India’s Foreign Minister S Jaishankar visited Maldives in August, which was the first high-level visit to India since Muizzu became President. During this visit, the two countries held talks towards strengthening bilateral relations.

Maldives President Muizzu’s visit to India can be an important step, indicating a new direction of stability and cooperation between the two countries. During Muizzu’s tenure, Maldives had adopted a pro-China stance but now it is becoming clear that it is moving towards strengthening relations with India.
