Sri Lanka announced the playing eleven for the Lord’s Test against England, two changes were made in the team

Sri Lanka has announced its playing XI for the second match of the three-match Test series against England. The second Test match between Sri Lanka and England will be played at Lord’s from Thursday (August 29). Sri Lanka has made two changes for the upcoming Test match. Sri Lanka has included Pathum Nissanka and Lahiru Kumara in the team in place of Kusal Mendis and Vishwa Fernando for the Lord’s Test. Mendis scored 24 runs in two innings, while Vishwa Fernando got 2 wickets.

Pathum Nissanka last played in the Sri Lanka vs Australia match in 2022, while Lahiru played a Test match in April this year. The arrival of both of them will strengthen Sri Lanka. The Sri Lankan team is trailing 0-1 in the three-match Test series. Talking about Nissanka, Dhananjaya de Silva described him as the best batsman in the country at the moment. The Sri Lankan captain said that Nissanka has a good mindset and technique and he will be able to adapt to any format.

Dhananjaya de Silva said, “Pathum is the best batsman in the country right now. He has a good mindset and his technique is also good. If we can include him in the team, it will be great. I think he will adapt to any format.”

On the basis of Joe Root’s aggressive innings in the first Test match, England defeated Sri Lanka by five wickets on the fourth day of the first Test match and took a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. Earlier, thanks to Kamindu Mendis’s brilliant century, Sri Lanka scored 326 runs in their second innings and gave England a target of 205 runs to win. Sri Lankan bowlers performed brilliantly in the beginning and took three wickets against England’s team batting in the second innings. But Joe Root (62) remained unbeaten and made two important partnerships with Harry Brook and Jamie Smith to end the match on the fourth day itself.

With this, Root surpassed Rahul Dravid and Allan Border in terms of scoring most half-centuries in Tests. Harry Brooke (32) and Jamie Smith (39) scored runs.
