We accept the responsibility of burning stubble in Punjab: CM Kejriwal
New Delhi, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann took the responsibility of stubble burning in the border state and promised to put an end to the practice by next winter as air pollution in the national capital reached alarming levels. CM Kejriwal said that air pollution in winter is not a ‘Delhi centric problem’, but it has affected the whole of North India. There should be no blame and politics on this issue. He also urged the Center to take steps to stop stubble burning. At the same time, he said that it is wrong to hold farmers alone responsible.
Delhi remained in the ‘severe’ category for the second day in a row, mainly due to adverse weather conditions and stubble burning in Punjab. Delhi’s SAQI stood at 445 at 2 pm. An AQI above 400 is considered ‘severe’ which can affect healthy people and can seriously affect those who are already sick.
CM Kejriwal gave a big statement

We accept the responsibility of stubble burning in Punjab. He said that we believe that incidents of stubble burning are happening in Punjab, but farmers are not responsible for this. Farmers want a solution, the day there is a solution, they will stop burning stubble.
CM Bhagwant Mann said that the AAP-led government of Punjab had only a few months to solve the problem. He promised that the issue would be resolved by next November. CM Kejriwal said that this is not the problem of Delhi alone and the whole of North India is suffering from pollution. He claimed that the air quality in many cities of Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh and Bihar is in the ‘severe’ or ‘very poor’ category.
Only Punjab-Delhi government is not responsible for stubble: CM Kejriwal
Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal He said, ‘Obviously, the Aam Aadmi Party or AAP governments are not responsible for this only in Delhi and Punjab. There are many reasons including local and regional. Kejriwal also urged the Center to come forward and take special steps to save North India from pollution. The Chief Minister of Delhi said that we have governments in Punjab and Delhi. This is not the time to point fingers, to blame. This is not the time for politics on such a sensitive issue. This does not provide any solution and people need a solution.
