Police Officer Suicide in Assam: A traffic sub-inspector committed suicide inside a police station on Monday (August 8) in Tinsukia district of Assam. Police said that Sub-Inspector Dina Kant Sonowal shot himself at Tinsukia Police Station at around 3.30 pm with his service revolver, due to which he died. At present, the police has started investigating the incident.
Dina Kanta, who committed suicide, was working in the traffic department of the Sonowal police station. However, he was taken to a nearby hospital in injured condition, but he succumbed to his injuries. Why Sonowal took this step, it is not yet known. The 50-year-old deceased Sub-Inspector left the world leaving behind his wife and 2 children.
CRPF jawan shot himself this month
In a similar incident early last month, a 38-year-old CRPF constable, who had taken his family hostage and shot himself in his quarters at the training center in Rajasthan’s Jodhpur. The deceased CRPF jawan was identified as Naresh Jat, a resident of Pali district of Rajasthan. According to the India Today report, he was dissatisfied with some issues, due to which he was also suffering from mental health problems.
Wife and 5 year old daughter were held hostage
Jodhpur’s DCP Amrita Duhan had told that the CRPR constable, along with his wife and 5-year-old daughter, had locked himself inside his house and started firing in the air. He had fired 8 rounds in the air, due to which panic spread in the area. However, 18 hours after taking his wife and daughter hostage, he shot himself with his service rifle inside his service quarters. Because of which he had died.
